Courtyard Arts is a vibrant voluntary organisation that brings artists and the community together. Courtyard's aim is to act as a launch pad for everyone to achieve their artistic potential through participatory arts projects, classes and visual displays of art.

July 4th .......

Courtyard Arts announce a unique exhibition by two accomplished painters, Daniel Gleeson and David Paul Gleeson. Between them, this father and son team, have notched up 100 years of painting. Each is an independently established painter with his own influences and style. This exhibition runs from July 1st to 26th.


June 23rd .......


Courtyard Arts announce the latest exhibition is by Nicholas Paterson's and is a new solo exhibition focuses on his landscape paintings of the north Norfolk coast made over the past two years.  This exhibition runs from Tues June 17th to Sat June 28th.

May 29th .......


Courtyard Arts announce the latest exhibition is by ANNIE TAPPENDEN and is entitled ‘Fifteen minutes of Fame’. It is a show of portraiture of friends and family by Annie and others with the opportunity to look the work, and the option of having a portrait done. This will therefore take the form of an ‘artist in residence’ week. Annie Tappenden BA MA is a Counsellor who uses art as a facilitator within her work. ‘Fifteen minutes of Fame’ is open Tues 10 to Sun 15 June from 10am to 4pm, until 7pm on Friday 13 June. Admission free.

Courtyard Arts announce PREGURGITATE – Contemporary artworks by Liam Herne and Joe Woolf from Tuesday May 27th to Saturday June 7th

May 9th .......


Courtyard Arts annual OPEN EXHIBITION is from May 8th to May 24th. Gallery Opening hours 10 – 4 (until 7pm Fridays), closed Sundays and Mondays. Preview Sat May 10, 7 – 9.30pm.

The LIVE ART festival at Courtyard, May 8th, 9th and 10th, coincides with the first few days of our OPEN EXHIBITION, so do come and see both.

This year our part of Hertford is particularly rich in art exhibitions, as there is also Hertford Art Society’s Open Exhibition in Cowbridge Hall (May 4th – May17th) and ‘Inside Out’ at 39 Cowbridge (May 7th – June 22nd). So why not have an ‘Arts Outing’ and come and see all three?


April 27th .......
Courtyard Arts latest exhibition is called PART TIME and shows new work made by 5 graduating Fine Art students of Hertford Regional College, Ware. It runs from Tuesday 29th to Monday 5th May. Open 10 - 4, Tuesdays to Saturdays, late opening until 7 on Fridays. Free admission.

April 17th .......

Courtyard Arts latest exhibition features Cathy Smale and is entitles Visible Horizons running from April 15 to April 27. Open 10 - 4, Tuesdays to Saturdays, late opening until 7 on Fridays. Free admission.

April 6th .......

We've had some great news for Courtyard in that Hertford-based artist Holly Darton has managed to get Arts Council East funding for a Live Art Festival to coincide with our Open Exhibition.  These, together with the HAS annual show, will form the Bridge Arts Festival.  It will bring a new audience to Courtyard and help put us further on the map.


 

March 31st.......

Courtyard Arts latest exhibition features two painters, Fiona Scheibl and Linda Keeley. The exhibition is entitled Visionary Landscapes. It runs from April 1 to April 12, Open 10 - 4, Tuesdays to Saturdays, late opening until 7 on Fridays. Free admission.

March 18th.......

The current exhibition (March 18 – March 29) in the gallery at Courtyard Arts is a joint show by Gillian Mackenna and Heather Jukes. Both are graduates of the University of Hertfordshire. In their show, entitled Ways of Seeing, the two artists express their different visual responses to landscape and organic objects. See under Exhibitions for further details.
