This year we have a very special group of people who will be our resident Artists. 30 years ago, our Founders saw the potential in creating a space for artists of all genres to come together and enjoy each others work. That idea grew into the wonderful Courtyard Arts centre we enjoy today.
A message from the Founders:
Courtyard Arts 30th Anniversary
It is heartening to see that the Courtyard Arts Centre is still thriving after 30 year of the opening in 1996. Importantly it retains its inclusive and friendly ethos, and there have been many different directors, trustees and volunteers who have been the backbone of its success.
Although some of the founders have now moved away, there remains a core of the artists who initiated the centre thirty years ago. We may not be so involved now with the maintenance of the centre with such key roles as in the past but we continue to meet weekly to share our love of art. Over the previous years some of us have held roles as trustees or tutors. All of us have taken part in the many classes on offer and been involved in the various community projects.
We have been asked to take up a residency in the gallery to produce a group art piece to celebrate the 30 year anniversary from 27th July for two weeks. We are planning to create a large decorated screen, using colourful collage of images depicting past and present activities of the centre. Everyone is welcome to drop by to add ideas and talk to the artists about the history of Courtyard Arts on opening hours.
