INSPIRED BY NATURE – Anne Burns

Stables Gallery

Anne Burns, contemporary artist with a BA (Hons) in Biological, Medical and Scientific Illustration.

Anne graduated from Hornsey College of Art with a First Class Honours degree in 1976. She then went on to work at Guy’s Hospital in London continuing her training and gaining a Certificate from the Society of Medical Illustrators in 1978, one of only three students across London hospitals.

Anne then moved to the Middlesex Hospital in London to continue her career, working as a professional medical illustrator, observing and drawing operations and procedures. Many of her works were published in medical journals and textbooks and are still used today.

Following her medical career, Anne has experimented with many different artistic styles and techniques, always using her fine eye for detail and taking inspiration from a variety of artists, places and themes.

Her most recent works, as seen on display here, depict scenes from Dungeness and Rye Nature Reserve a short hop from where Anne grew up in Hastings. You will also see her love of botanical art as well as colourful abstract works here.
