Vacancy for Ceramics Tutor for Children Aged 8+ Years
Background
Courtyard Arts Centre is a registered charity founded in 1996 with the mission “to provide a launch pad for all members of the community to achieve their artistic potential”. We are a community arts centre in Hertford housed in a converted stable block, offering cultural and educational activity alongside 2 contemporary galleries. We have a small gift shop, café and two artists’ studios. We also run a programme of outreach work in the community. We are a self-funded charity at a very exciting stage in its development having obtained planning permission to extend the premises.
The position
We are looking to recruit a tutor to run our Saturday ceramics class for children aged 8+. The successful candidate will be responsible for tutoring the classes during term time, on a fortnightly basis (5/6weeks per term) which includes preparing the lessons, setting up and tidying the studio before/after the session and tutoring the students. The person may also have opportunities to run workshops during the holidays.
Based at the Centre, you will lead a small class of children. Each class is made up of students of all abilities aged from 8 upwards. The class time is 10am-12pm every two weeks.
Experience of ceramics tutoring and a passion for working with children is essential as well as a relevant and up to date DBS check. The ideal candidate will have an art and teaching qualification and be available to start from January 2026.
