Guide to brands for buying individual paint tubes:
● Windsor and Newton’s Winton Oil colours/ Daler-Rowney Graduate (student/ starter range)
● Windsor and Newton’s Artist’s Oil colours/ Daler-Rowney Georgian/ Van Gogh Oil paints (Mid range, higher pigment content)
● Michael Harding/ Old Holland (Higher cost, high pigment content and quality)
Note:
When a paint name has the word “Hue” after it, it just means that the paint imitates the colour of the original pigment. This makes paint cheaper and in some cases less toxic, such as with “Lead White”. Hues are perfectly fine to use if the original is too costly or you want to avoid using a toxic pigment.
