Fridays from 11th June for 6 weeks
10:00 – 11:00 Online Zoom group feedback session
Are you looking for drawing projects to work on at home, with feedback and tuition from an experienced tutor?
Even though we are all spending much more time at home, it can be difficult to be creative and motivate yourself. This online group provides momentum and a purpose to doing something creative and, like being in a conventional class, you will see other peoples’ work and share ideas.
Each week, tutor Julie Arnall will post a project brief to the class WhatsApp group. This will contain a subject with notes for the week, as well as additional links to websites, or resources and images to inspire you. Group members can then draw at their convenience during the week, allowing you to create more than working in a classroom or Zoom meeting, for example drawing outside. During the week, members share their drawings to the WhatsApp group. Every Friday there will be a Zoom meet-up to review the weeks’ drawings with individual feedback provided and general discussion.
The projects will be varied: some will be observational drawing from a still life, some will be drawing a specific subject or technique based with a step-by-step tutorial (including demonstration videos made by Julie), and others will be more thematic and open to your interpretation.
We understand that students’ ability may be mixed and the projects are designed with this mind – Julie’s tuition is very much intended to help students develop their own drawing skills rather than reproducing a particular way of working. The briefs will introduce you to art concepts such as negative space and chiaroscuro, and how to use them to enhance your drawings. You will also be encouraged to see how objects in your domestic environment can become the inspiration for your work.
PLEASE NOTE: The sessions run for 6 weeks in total and include 5 separate projects which will conclude with feedback in week 6.
A selection of pencils and graphite, willow charcoal, eraser, masking tape, pens or biros, ink, decent quality cartridge paper, some coloured drawing materials for example, good quality watercolour pencils or pastel pencils. Julie will recommend materials during the initial Zoom meeting as the first project does not require anything specialist.
By purchasing this class you are agreeing for your email address and contact details being shared with our tutor in order for them to deliver the class. Class members will require access to a computer or tablet with the facility to connect to Zoom (camera and microphone) and the WhatApp application to post photos of work to the group.
