Silk Painting

Create a Scarf

Fold, Tie, Splash! … a magical introduction to silk and dyes using ‘Shibori’ (the Japanese method of folding and dyeing fabric). Experiment with techniques, colour and pattern to create a scarf to your unique design.

Fused Glass

Make a door number plaque
Mon 22nd July, 10am-12.30pm

Design and make a unique colourful plaque. Learn to cut and decorate glass and emboss your piece with your own house number.

Stained Glass (2-day)

27th & 28thJuly, 10am-3pm

Create a striking and unique garden panel to transform any outdoor space. An introductory journey into the world of stained glass over two days covering the traditional skills of cutting, leadwork and soldering.
Please note, this class is not suitable for pregnant women. Students are asked to bring a bevelled ruler and a hammer, and should wear closed-toe footwear.

Explore the art of drawing with soft pastels through personal guidance and practical demonstrations, focussing on colour, line and shape. Work with a variety of subject matter through the course of a relaxed day, using both still life subjects and photographic images.

Collage and Paint

An enjoyable day creating an artwork in stages exploring a number of media. Start by selecting and working with collage materials (supplied) to create a background. Develop your work painting from still life, then complete your masterpiece using inks and simple printing techniques.

Working from Photographs

Work from images spanning a range of subject matter, but with a focus on exploring portraiture and the human figure. Some experience of drawing or painting the face or figure would be advantageous.

Drypoint Printmaking (2-day)

28th & 29th Aug, 10am-3pm

Start with a still life study exploring a range of approaches to drawing and media. Your drawings then serve as the basis to discover the processes of drypoint: creating a plate, inking and printing using a press. Your work can be developed using chine-collé and monoprint techniques to introduce colour and complexity, resulting in a series of finished prints on a theme.
